New appointment brings nearly 20 years of PostgreSQL experience to leading independent open source database company
RALEIGH, N.C., July 14, 2021 – Percona, a leader in open source database software and services, today announced that Umair Shahid has joined the company as Head of PostgreSQL, allowing Percona to expand its PostgreSQL capabilities. Shahid joins the company from 2ndQuadrant, a leading support and services company for PostgreSQL, where he was the Head of Products and a part of the executive team that achieved 5x revenue growth in as many years. 2ndQuadrant has since been acquired by EDB. Prior to 2ndQuadrant, Shahid held principal consultant roles at Stormatics and OpenSCG, leading PostgreSQL consulting engagements for a range of enterprise deployments globally, including companies in the telecommunications, logistics and technology sectors. Before that, Shahid held the role of Director of Development Services at EDB, leading development of the company’s server product for PostgreSQL.
