This tutorial covers the basics of MongoDB including:
- Features
- Use-cases
- Design tips
- Replica-set management
- Write concerns
- Storage engines
- Sharding

Attendees are expected to bring a laptop that can run the necessary virtual environments for this session. Attendees will import a movies database to get hands-on with: building a database, querying, inserting, updating, deleting, indexing, etc.

At the end of this tutorial, attendees will have a solid understanding of how to work with MongoDB, when it is an appropriate database choice and knowledge of a variety of basic configuration options. They will also have access to a database that can be used to work with MongoDB on their own time. The target audience of this session is a beginner MongoDB user or users with no experience with MongoDB, but interest in learning.
