Percona experts will be presenting 2 one hour talks on the upcoming SouthEast LinuxFest this weekend.
First is Matt Yonkovit (Head of Open Source Strategy) with his talk “The Business of Open Source” at 11:00 AM-12:00 PM ET, June 12.
We are in a battle for not only the hearts and minds of the FOSS community but our collective future. As new developers start open source projects more will be compelled to choose more restrictive licensing models ( i.e. SSPL ), invest less in the community, and “control” as much of the code and product as possible. Matt will talk about the trend, talk about the common business models, and offer a few alternatives.
The next one is Peter Zaitsev (Percona CEO) with the talk “MySQL 8 Observability” at 2:45 PM – 3:45 PM ET, June 12.
A broken MySQL means broken Application, so maintaining insights in MySQL operational performance is critical. Thankfully MySQL 8 offers a lot in terms of observability to resolve problems quickly and get great insights into opportunities for optimization.
In this talk, Peter will cover the most important observability improvements in MySQL 8 ranging from Performance Schema and Information Schema to enhanced error logging and optimizer trace. If you’re a developer or DBA passionate about observability or just want to be empowered to resolve MySQL problems quickly and efficiently, you should attend this talk.
