Peter Zaitsev (CEO, Percona) will be presenting his talk The Changing Landscape of Open Source Databases in 2021 on DevOops Conf 2021 on November 11th at 3:30 pm GMT+3.

In the current technology landscape, we have a lot of great innovation happening especially when it comes to database technology. A few examples include introducing new data models such as time series or graph, which focus on solving SQL at the hyper-scale problem, this has been an elusive solution and scale was becoming synonymous with NoSQL environments. We now have a new Cloud-Native database design coming to market using the power of Kubernetes as well as employing serverless concepts.

Also, Sergey Pronin (Product Owner, Percona) will present his talk Database-as-a-Service in Kubernetes with GitOps on November 10th at 5 pm GMT+3.

Database as a service enables developers and users to provision databases without submitting a request to Ops teams. In this talk, Sergey will cover Kubernetes Operators for databases, how to build your own DBaaS in Kubernetes and how to manage this with GitOps.

In this presentation, Peter will look at database technologies changing trends and what is driving them as well as talk about changes to the open source licenses and cloud-based deployment and emerging class of not-quite Open Source Database software.

About the event.

The conference is about processes and culture, SRE, and Cloud Native, and, of course, this conference is absolutely not for DevOps engineers. The program consists of talks divided into 3 main topics: DevOps, SRE and Cloud Native.
