Peter Zaitsev (CEO, Percona) will be presenting his talk Technologies and trends in the world of open source databases in 2021 on November 13th at 10.30 AM (GMT +3).
We are dealing with a lot of great innovations in database technology today. For example, the introduction of new data models such as the time series or graph, which focus on solving SQL problems in scaling applications and making NoSQL synonymous with scaling. Also, a new design of Cloud-Native databases has appeared on the market, using the capabilities of Kubernetes and serverless concepts. Open source software has a particular impact, the market for which is growing but cracking. The class of partially open DBMS appears.
In this talk, Peter will look at these and other trends and explain the driving forces behind these changes. We will talk about all the main open source databases, consider specific solutions for different situations. He will give you information on the changes in open source licenses and what to expect next year.
Also, Maria Azizova (Staff Executive to CEO, Percona) will present a talk How to avoid the open source trap on the same day at 11.25 AM (GMT +3).
Open source software solutions are one of the leading development and infrastructure options because they help you save money and not be tied to a single vendor. As open source becomes stronger on the market, we often see companies advertising their software as open source, even if it doesn’t provide all the benefits that truly open source software has.
In this presentation, Maria will look at some of the common pitfalls – different ways of using the term open source to describe software that doesn’t conform to open source principles – and give tips on how to work with it and benefit from it.
