PostgreSQL is known to run efficiently on any system, using minimum resources. Because of this, however, it is also not well-tuned by default and can leave much to be desired from most demanding workloads. Too often, users are left with sub-optimal performance, resulting in slow query speeds, I/O reads, etc.
