Upgrading to MySQL 5.6: Best Practices
With the release of MySQL 5.6 by Oracle almost a year ago and Percona Server 5.6 in September, more and more of our customers are choosing to move to 5.6 and take advantage of the significant benefits offered by this technology.
However, upgrading to a major version may be risky, especially when complicated applications are involved. For each major upgrade, those risks are a bit different due to the areas which receive the bulk of change impact.
In this presentation, Percona CEO and Co-Founder Peter Zaitsev will talk about the MySQL upgrade best practices Percona uses to help our customers achieve maximum success. Additional topics covered include the unique aspects of upgrading to MySQL 5.6 and Percona Server 5.6, such as optimizer changes, changes to replication, and new features which you might consider using after your upgrade is complete.
