On behalf of the entire product and engineering team, I’m pleased to announce that Percona ClusterSync for MongoDB (PCSM) 1.0.0 is now generally available with all its features inside. It is production-ready, fully supported, and already proven on real multi-terabyte migrations. If you want to move off MongoDB Atlas, MongoDB Enterprise, or MongoDB Community to Percona Server for MongoDB, or move a cluster between data centers, PCSM gets you there with near-zero downtime.
PCSM is a cluster-to-cluster synchronization tool that replicates data from a source MongoDB cluster to a target cluster while your applications keep running. It first clones the existing data, then streams every change in real-time until you are ready to cut over. ClusterSync automatically handles all indexes and Data Description Language (DDL) operations. Moreover, you can run the filtered synchronization for a specific database or collection. This is a perfect solution for leaving vendor lock-in with MongoDB Atlas, migrating your deployment to a different data center, or troubleshooting your production data in an isolated, cloned environment.

The biggest addition in 1.0.0 is high availability for the replication process itself, which makes PCSM ready for enterprise and multi-data-center setups.
The release also improves error handling, connection pool tuning, and Kubernetes compatibility. See the 1.0.0 release notes for the full list and upgrade steps.
PCSM has already carried real production workloads off Atlas. PriceShape, a Danish pricing-intelligence SaaS company, had run out of Atlas disk capacity and hit oplog limits on its update-heavy workload. With PCSM, it moved about 6.6 TB of data from MongoDB Atlas to Percona Server for MongoDB on Amazon EKS.
PCSM ran the initial full sync and then kept both clusters in lockstep via change-stream replication until cutover. The switch finished inside PriceShape’s required downtime window, with no impact on our users. Today, PriceShape runs without its old disk and oplog constraints and is planning to shard for further growth. Their success story is not only about using the right tools, but also partnering with Percona experts.
“With Percona, we can always get the help and support we need with just a Slack message, and the support engineers take their time reviewing our environment before answering, instead of just referring to the documentation. We knew the migration wouldn’t be without its hiccups—but Percona quickly involved the relevant persons to help us move forward as soon as something came up, and we completed the migration without impacting our customers.” — Mads Toustrup-Lønne, VP of Technology, PriceShape
PCSM 1.0.0 is free and open-source, backed by Percona Support, for teams that want experts by their side during a migration.
