Software Lifecycle

Overview

The software lifecycle plan below is a part of Percona Services Lifecycle Policy. The plan includes releases and defines the end-of-life date for all products under Percona Software for MongoDB:

• Percona Server for MongoDB (PSMDB)
• Percona Search for MongoDB (PS4M)
• Percona Backup for MongoDB (PBM)
• Percona ClusterSync for MongoDB (PCSM)

Percona Server for MongoDB is based on the upstream MongoDB Community, and we align with the upstream EOL dates. When a Percona Software for MongoDB version reaches EOL, we will continue to provide services for it under the terms of our Percona Services Lifecycle Policy. Bug fixes, new builds, or new packages will be made with the best of our efforts and are not guaranteed; our recommendation is to upgrade if you encounter issues.

1. We align the end-of-life dates for Percona Server for MongoDB with those of MongoDB Inc.
2. MongoDB upstream does not offer extended support, so neither do we. We EOL at the same time as MongoDB. See https://www.mongodb.com/support-policy for their EOL
3. Operational support is provided for the versions available in the last 2 years. Customers will get complete support for the latest minor version. Bug fixes and improvements are not backported to older minor versions.

Overview

Our Percona tool software is produced to complement and assist in operating MongoDB databases successfully. Below is a chart that covers which versions of MongoDB Community and Percona Server for MongoDB are supported by which versions of our tools and Percona Monitoring and Management.

Compatibility Commitment for Tools

While we continue offering services for EOL database software and Operating Systems, we only commit to providing backwards compatibility within our tools for Active and Extended Support software. This, for example means that some while EOL database software must still be supported, it may be done using older versions of tools. We do not guarantee that the latest release of a tools software will support EOL database software even if it exists on Active Operating Systems. For example, while Percona Toolkit 3.0 does support Percona Server 5.1, there is no strict requirement that it continue doing so in the next release.

Operating Systems support

Find the supported architectures on the system requirements page .

1. Amazon Linux 2023 is available starting with the following product versions:
   • PSMDB 6.0.20-17, PSMDB 7.0.16-10, PSMDB 8.0.4-2
   • PBM 2.9.0
2. We build and test Percona Software for MongoDB on the latest Amazon Linux 2023 versions. Find the compatibility table in the Percona Server for MongoDB 8.0.x , Percona Server for MongoDB 7.0.x and Percona Server for MongoDB 6.0.x documentation .
3. Debian 11 and Debian 12 are not available for ARM64 (AARCH64) architecture.
4. We support and test Percona Software for MongoDB on Rocky Linux and Oracle Linux, following the same Application Binary Interface (ABI) compatibility policy as RHEL.
5. Oracle Linux is only supported when running the Red Hat Compatible Kernel (RHCK). Oracle Linux running the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) is not supported.
