The MariaDB Foundation – Ensuring continuity and open collaboration in the MariaDB ecosystem
In recent years MariaDB has gained a lot of interest and we are seeing it being adopted by many well known entities like Wikipedia, Alibaba, Google and Amazon. It has been embraced by most Linux distributions and other open source projects. In this talk the CEO for the MariaDB Foundation will present the work done by the Foundation, what are the recent key developments in MariaDB as a software and as a ecosystem, and how anybody interested can contribute to it.

Otto Kekäläinen is the CEO of the MariaDB Foundation, CEO of Seravo Oy (open source business in Finland) and the chairman of the FUUG Foundation (open source funding in Finland). Otto has been using Linux and other open source technologies for over 15 years, and has been advocating open source for almost as long. The list of projects and organizations Otto has been involved in is long, with the most prominent ones being the Center for Open Source Solutions in Finland (COSS.fi) and Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE.org). As a software developer Otto has insight into the technical side of open source, and as a CEO and entrepreneur he also knows how to use open source in business successfully. Otto likes to share his experiences on how to use open source to its full potential and how the world can keep increasing the benefits of open source software and the its methodologies.
