Description

ScaleDB is a clustered, distributed storage engine for MariaDB, optimised for high volume, high velocity structured data. The engine primarily serves streaming data workloads, although the core has also a locking mechanism designed for OLTP workloads. The objective of this talk is to introduce the functionalities of ScaleDB as a Storage Engine for MariaDB, features, architecture, practical use cases and performance tests executed so far. The agenda is: - What is ScaleDB, architecture and features - Building ScaleDB from source - ScaleDB installation on Linux, deployment on Docker or any cloud using the scaledb-admin tool - What are Streaming tables and typical use cases - Query examples and performance

Biography:

Ivan is EVP of Strategy and Products at ScaleDB Inc. He has worked at Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, and he has served as CTO at SkySQL/MariaDB for 4 years. Prior to that, Ivan worked at MySQL AB / Sun / Oracle for 6 years. An IT veteran with 30 years of experience, he has been founder and CTO of various companies, journalist and author of technical books and publications.
