Description

What underpins Google's Cloud SQL managed MySQL service? The storage layer, called Persistent Disk, behaves differently than many block storage devices: add capacity to increase IOPS; grow the storage size while the database is running; don't bother separating undo logs and the system tablespace. We'll examine the architecture of Persistent Disk and discuss its implications for MySQL.
