HybridDB for PostgreSQL which is a Greenplum-based engine that can support OLTP and OLAP in the same time, developed by Alibaba Cloud Database Team. We optimized the PostgreSQL's execution plan generator and DML executor for better OLAP performance, in the same hardware, the OLAP queries performance can be more than doubled.
In this session, We will introduce how we implement these optimizations.
HybridDB for MySQL is a distributed database which supports OLTP and OLAP (HTAP) on massive data. The central design idea of HybridDB for MySQL is share nothing and it separates the storage nodes and computing nodes, which makes the storage nodes and computing nodes can scale up separately. And the OLTP and OLAP can share the same data set in HybridDB for MySQL by design. Same as MySQL, HybridDB for MySQL supports different storage engines and user can choose the engine according to their business. Further more, HybridDB for MySQL can run on not only local disk but also shared storage, and it can provide better OLTP performance and higher availability by using PolarStore (an Alibaba Cloud shared storage engine).
TiDB is an open-source distributed HTAP database with both MySQL and Spark SQL interface. TiDB aims to work as an HTAP database that enables real-time business analysis based on live transactional data. Ever since TiDB 1.0 was released in Oct. 2017, hundreds of users entrust TiDB to tackle the scalability problem of MySQL, and to run real-time OLAP queries within a single TiDB cluster deployment with the help of TiSpark, the TiDB connector for Spark. In this talk, I'll talk about the best practices in deploying and operating the TiDB cluster.
