Performance Comparison of MySQL and PostgreSQL Based on Kernel Level Analysis

In this talk the author will show the results of performance comparison between MySQL and PostgreSQL using well known benchmarks such as sysbench and tpcc, and analyze the causes of such differences in terms of the database kernel design and key algorithms of the two competitors, in their kernel modules and functionality including transaction management, access methods, query processing, among others. Following that, the author will show why the Kunlun distributed DBMS can combine the strengths of MySQL and PostgreSQL and avoid their weaknesses to achieve outstanding performance.
