Baron is Percona's Director of Consulting. He is the author of the popular Maatkit toolkit for MySQL (among other tools) and co-author of High Performance MySQL Second Edition.

Before joining the Percona team, Baron worked for a search engine marketing firm, building backend systems that help customers drive sales to their sites, lower costs, and increase advertising efficiency. Prior to that he helped an online retailer become one of the top websites on the Internet.

Baron's focus on automation, quality, and reliability has helped many people achieve better performance from their systems while bringing them the peace of mind that comes from knowing their data is secure and accurate. At Percona, Baron divides his time between helping customers and building Percona's consulting practice the same way he builds high-quality code, with the goal of delivering excellent service to customers.

When not at work, Baron enjoys rock climbing, building and playing musical instruments, and vegetarian cooking.
