Surviving an Amazon Outage

Best Practices for Businesses
24 April 2:00pm - 2:50pm @ Ballroom E

Continuent run all of their systems on the Amazon AWS platform. This includes all R&D resources, source control and issue tracking systems. As well as external Marketing websites. Many of these services had grown in importance as the company grew and developed into new areas.

After the AWS failures in Mid-2012 a series of reviews were carried out to ensure that we had no single points of failure within our infrastructure.

This talk will cover how we re-architected our database and application platforms to provide the best possible HA solutions to both our internal and external customers. While there is no single solution to this problem we will discuss the pro's and con's of different solutions.
