Baron Schwartz

Baron is the lead author of High Performance MySQL, and creator of Maatkit. He consults with Percona's customers, and develops tools and practices for Percona's team.

Andrew Aksyonoff
CEO/Founder, Sphinx Search
Andrew is by all accounts a Russian Geek, who created Sphinx back in 2001 and has been working on the code ever since. He is fluent in C++, Russian, and off-colour American comedies.

Anders Karlsson
Database Architect, Recorded Future
Anders Karlsson is the database architect at Recorded Future where MySQL is used, togther with many complementary technologies. Before joining Recorded Future in 2010, Anders was a Sales Enginer/Consultant at MySQL since 2004, and before that he has worked for in the database industry in different positions more than 20 years, for companies such as Oracle, Informix and Times Ten.

Yoshinori Matsunobu
Principal Infrastructure Architect, DeNA
Yoshinori Matsunobu is a database and infrastructure architect at DeNA, living in Tokyo. Yoshinori's primary responsibility at DeNA is to make our database infrastructure more reliable, faster and more scalable. Before joining DeNA, Yoshinori worked at MySQL/Sun/Oracle as a lead consultant in APAC for four years. Yoshinori has written eight MySQL related technical books so far and has published technical articles about MySQL, Linux, and Java for a monthly database magazine since 2004.

Domas Mituzas
Database Engineer, Facebook
Domas is a database engineer at Facebook. He also do some systems and software (mostly performance-oriented) development for Wikipedia, as well as runs databases and other systems there. He served on the Board of Trustees of Wikimedia Foundation January 2008-August 2009. He also worked at Sun/MySQL (2005-2009), and before that he did work for MicroLink (at first known in Lithuania as Delfi) – regional data services provider. He lives in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Johan Andersson

Johan works for Severalnines, a company focused on building fast, scalable, and highly available solutions. Prior to Severalnines, Johan was working at Ericsson/MySQL/Sun/Oracle and was the Principal Consultant and lead of the Cluster consulting group.

Yves Trudeau

Kenny joined Percona in July 2010. He came from the online social network NetLog, where he was the MySQL DBA. He started using open source long before the Millenium and has been involved in system administration for more than 7 years. Alexey Rybak

Alexey Rybak managed the development team in Badoo for over three years at a start-up stage, while the company grew up from zero to millions users. As a current head of A-team in Badoo Alexey is responsible for various "core" or "unexpected" stuff. Alexey has over 12 years experience in software architecture, development and management. Earlier in his career, Alexey was a head of web development at Mamba and also held development positions in electronic media companies. Paul Mikesell

Aaron Passey

Before joining Clustrix, Aaron was the chief architect for Isilon Systems. Starting in the early years of Isilon, he architected the industry-changing OneFS distributed file system from scratch, and was named as an inventor on 26 patents. He was responsible for the technical direction of the product that took Isilon to over $115M annual revenue. As chief architect, he maintained close ties with engineering, sales, marketing, customers, and vendors in order to maintain the rapid pace of innovation critical to Isilon's success.

Robert Hodges

Robert Hodges, CEO, brings over 20 years of experience in database and application engineering management. Prior to Continuent, he worked as a Senior Engineering Manager at Sybase, where he worked on a variety of RDBMS products. He also held senior engineering positions at Portera and Exigen group, where he managed and operated software-as-a-service applications. Robert is the original designer of Continuent's Tungsten solution.

Roland Bouman

Henrik Ingo

Henrik works at Nokia as the resident MySQL expert. Prior to Nokia he worked with MySQL Cluster at Sun Microsystems. He is an active contributor to Drupal and the MySQL forks and is the author of the book "Open Life: The Philosophy of Open Source".

Espen is the VP of Global Services at Percona. He has worked in the database industry for more than 20 years, managing consultants at Oracle and developers at Amadeus (e-Travel). He has also served as consulting manager at several smaller companies.

Brendan McAdams

Brendan McAdams is a software engineer at 10gen, where he maintains and supports the Java driver for MongoDB, as well as providing support for alternative JVM languages. He is currently developing a Hadoop integration plugin for MongoDB. Brendan's open source work related to MongoDB includes contributions to MongoKit, a Python object mapper for MongoDB as well as the creation of beaker_mongodb, a MongoDB persistence layer for the popular Python-based Beaker caching system. Brendan also created Casbah, a Scala toolkit for MongoDB.

Istvan Podor

Tamas Kozak

Tamas has been working as a Percona Support Engineer since June 2010. Prior to joining Percona, he worked for an Alexa Top 50 site, where he played a key role in developing the company's e-invoicing platform for its Internet payment processing division. He also took part in designing and developing the software and hardware architecture of a new PCI-DSS compliant Internet payment service provider. He has a genuine interest in high availability, security, and business related topics.

Aurimas Mikalauskas

Aurimas was the first person to join founders Peter and Vadim after Percona was formed in 2006, to specialize primarily in performance consulting. He began using MySQL for various demanding web projects in 1999, while working as a system administrator. In 2002, he was recruited by a dedicated server hosting startup to work as a performance engineer. Performance optimization service was key to this company's success. In addition to MySQL performance optimization, his key areas of expertise include: MySQL High Availability, full text search, web and content cache servers, and MySQL data recovery.

Aleksandr Kuzminsky

Aleksandr's first experiences using MySQL were in 2000, as a developer and as a system administrator at an Internet Services Provider. Since then, he has also acquired a great deal of experience in a variety of different Unix variants and network services, as well as in Operational Support Systems and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS) development. Prior to joining Percona, he taught Cisco courses and built multi-service Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks in Ukraine and in the Caucasian countries. At Percona, he specializes in InnoDB and MyISAM data recovery. Aleksandr lives with his family in the suburbs of Kiev. He enjoys playing with his young son and gardening.

Ovais Tariq

Ovais Tariq works as a Support Engineer for Percona. Before joining Percona, he worked for different types of companies ranging from a startup to a big media organization. He has extensive experience in developing for and managing LAMP stack. He has worked in different roles, including that of a software engineer, development manager, dba and consultant. Devananda van der Veen

Deva joined Percona in July 2009 as a Principal Consultant, with a focus on scalability and performance tuning. He studied computer science at the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara, and has worked in the internet technology space since '99. Prior to joining Percona, he was the sole DBA at HydraNetwork for several years, and also provided consulting for a number of Southern California startups. He now works from his home in Washington's Olympic Mountains where he lives with his wife and two beloved huskies.

Ivan Zoratti

With 25 years of experience in computer science and IT, Ivan started his career at Digital Equipment Corporation, following his passion for the kernel of the PdP 11 machines, RSX and VMS Macro programming. Entrepreneur since 1988, he set up and managed IT companies in Europe. He has been an independent journalist and author of technical books for 15 years. Ivan has worked on Data Warehouse and BI projects since the early 90s, with DEC RDB, Informix, Oracle, SQLServer and later MySQL. In 1997, he joined MicroStrategy as Director of Professional Services and Advanced Solutions in Europe, where he has been directly involved in the architecture and development of some of the largest DW on the planet. Ivan joined MySQL in 2005 and led the European Pre-Sales team for the Software Infrastructure Group at Sun Microsystems. At SkySQL, Ivan is responsible for the Field Services team in Europe.

Nickolay Ihalainen

Nickolay joined Percona in December 2010, after working for several years at what is now the most popular cinema site in Russia. During the time he was there, Nickolay and a small team of developers were responsible for scaling the site into one which now serves over a million unique visitors per day. Prior to that, he worked for several other companies, including NetUp, which provides ISP billing and IPTV solutions, and eHouse, the oldest Russian e-commerce company. Nickolay has a great deal of experience in both systems administration and programming. He is an expert in scalability, performance, and system reliability. Nickolay has a degree from Moscow State University.

Prior to Schooner, John was director of computer system research at Sun Microsystems Laboratories, VP of Engineering with Diba, founder of Clarity Software, and R&D director of computer systems at Hewlett Packard. John holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA, M.S. in Mathematics from UCLA, M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and attended the Stanford Sloan program.

Wes Biggs

Wes is co-founder and CTO of Adfonic, Europe’s largest independent mobile advertising marketplace. From the day he hooked up his first 300 baud modem, Wes has been developing software and designing platforms for online telecommunications with a passion bordering on the obsessive. At Adfonic, his job ranges from designing the big picture boxes and arrows down to the nitty gritty implementation of key services. Dr Jack Kreindler is the founder of GenieDB, originally a London based start-up now head-quartered in California. GenieDB was built as an efficient solution to one hardest distributed data problems we still face - providing an immediate consistency, partition intelligent data replication across multiple data-centres. Prior to GenieDB, Jack founded the technology incubator, Blueorange, where the need for a product that combined SQL and schemaless, scaleable datastores became clear, seeing growing pains faced by many innovative enterprise software and web-apps built by Jack and his team over the last decade.

Rich Kelm

Rich received his start in software/databases at MySQL in 2002. In 2009, he heard about a great search server called Sphinx and decided it would be foolish not get behind such a great technology. He now serves as the COO at Sphinx Search and looks forward everyday, to spreading ‘the word’ about the riddle that is Sphinx.
