In this tutorial, we'll walk through over ten scenarios where things can get complex with your Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC)/Galera installation. We will break things in these scenarios and then you'll have a chance to diagnose and fix them. Learn some of the most complex troubleshooting techniques.
Scenarios:
- New node fails to join cluster
- Data sharing (Node catch up): SST, IST
- Cluster restart failures
- Data inconsistency
- Delayed purging of the gcache
- Network latency problems
- Blocking transactions



About the Authors

Alkin Tezuysal

Alkin has extensive experience in enterprise relational databases working in various sectors for large corporations. With more then 20 years of industry experience he has acquired skills for managing large projects from ground up to production. For the past six years he's been focusing on e-commerce, SaaS and MySQL technologies. He managed and architected database topologies for high volume site at eBay Intl. He has several years of experience on 24X7 support and operational tasks as well as improving database systems for major companies. He has led MySQL global operations team on Tier 1/2 support for MySQL customers. Recently joined Percona's expert technical management team.

 

 

Daniel Guzmán Burgos

Daniel studied Electronic Engineering, but quickly becomes interested on all data things. Worked as a DBA since 2007 for several companies including one of the major social gaming company at that time in Latin America. Daniel lives in Bogotá, Colombia and in his free time love to spend time with his family and to eat on any kind restaurants. Working for Percona since 2014, he is part of the Consulting team.
 

Tate Mcdaniel

Tate joined Percona in June 2017 as a Remote MySQL DBA. He holds a Bachelors degree in Information Systems and Decision Strategies from LSU. He has 10+ years of experience working with MySQL and operations management. His great love is application query tuning. In his off time, he races sailboats, travels the Caribbean by sailboat, and drives all over in an RV.
