MyRocks in the Real World

In this keynote, Yoshi will share interesting lessons learned from Facebook's production deployment and operations of MyRocks and future MyRocks development roadmaps. Vadim will discuss MyRocks in Percona Server for MySQL and share performance benchmarks tests from on-premises and cloud deployments.



About the Authors

Yoshinori Matsunobu

Yoshinori Matsunobu is a Production Engineer at Facebook, and now is leading MyRocks project. Yoshinori has been around MySQL community for over 10 years, and was a senior consultant at MySQL Inc since 2006 to 2010. Yoshinori created a couple of useful open source product/tools, including MHA (automated MySQL master failover tool) and quickstack.
 

Vadim Tkachenko

Vadim Tkachenko co-founded Percona in 2006 and serves as its Chief Technology Officer. Vadim leads Percona Labs, which focuses on technology research and performance evaluations of Percona’s and third-party products. Percona Labs designs no-gimmick tests of hardware, filesystems, storage engines, and databases that surpass the standard performance and functionality scenario benchmarks. Vadim’s expertise in LAMP performance and multi-threaded programming help optimize MySQL and InnoDB internals to take full advantage of modern hardware. Oracle Corporation and its predecessors have incorporated Vadim’s source code patches into the mainstream MySQL and InnoDB products. He also co-authored the book High Performance MySQL: Optimization, Backups, and Replication 3rd Edition. Previously, he founded a web development company in his native Ukraine and spent two years in the High Performance Group within the official MySQL support team. Vadim received a BS in Economics and an MS in computer science from the National Technical University of Ukraine. He now lives in California with his wife and two children.
