Survey of Attendees Acknowledges Oracle, Reveals Surging Interest in OpenStack

Calls for Speaking Proposals for Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo 2015 and OpenStack Live 2015 Close November 16, 2014

DURHAM, North Carolina – Nov. 14, 2014 – Percona, the company that makes MySQL faster and more reliable, today recognized the overwhelming success of the Percona Live London MySQL conference, which took place November 3-4 at the Millennium Gloucester Conference Center. Attendees from more than 30 countries gathered to hear insightful talks from leaders of the MySQL community. As part of the event, Percona and ComputerworldUK conducted a survey to take the pulse of the MySQL community. The illuminating survey results indicate that 81 percent of the community acknowledges that Oracle has been a good steward of MySQL over the past year and that 48 percent are planning to evaluate OpenStack over the next 12 months. The full results will appear in a future ComputerworldUK publication.

“Percona Live London exceeded our expectations in every way, with insightful keynotes and exciting breakout sessions,” said Terry Erisman, CMO at Percona. “We also conducted a brief survey of attendees, which was quite revealing. The acknowledgement of Oracle’s effectiveness as stewards of MySQL bodes well for the continued growth of MySQL and the MySQL ecosystem. The survey also demonstrated rapidly growing interest in OpenStack among the MySQL community.”

This year’s conference featured insightful keynotes by Tomas Ulin, vice president of MySQL Engineering at Oracle MySQL; Robert Hodges, CEO of Continuent; Alexey Yurchenko, co-founder and Solutions Architect of Codership; Ryan Taylor, Flash Platforms Group, HGST EMEA; and, Peter Zaitsev, co-founder and CEO of Percona.
