MariaDB 5.2 and MySQL 5.7 introduced virtual columns, with different implementations. Their features and limitations are similar, but not identical. The main difference is that only MySQL allows you to build an index on a non-persistent column. Writing a slow and buggy stored procedures for MySQL is easy and intuitive. In this lightning talk we will review the practice to better write a very low quality procedure. Once you know these rules, you can also choose to break them and try to write a good procedure.
