dbhell: a tiny Python framework for the administration and monitoring of farms of MySQL servers
As the sole DBA for the Wikimedia Foundation, I faced the task of maintaining hundreds of busy MySQL servers, with only a handful home-made tools on different languages (bash, PHP, perl) and a few 3rd party utilities such as Percona Toolkit and XtraBackup. In order to get out of that administrator's hell, I wrote a basic, easy to use, tiny-scope API to be used as the base of all monitoring, alerting and management utilities, focused on query efficient, safeness of operations, and automatization; maybe someone else is interested?
