Geographical Disaster recovery challenges and solutions

Replication and High Availability Strategies
2 April 4:50PM - 5:40PM @ Ballroom C

Experience level:
Intermediate
Duration:
50 minutes conference
Geographical disaster recovery (geo-DR), insuring the continuity of service after a large scale event like an earthquake or a hurricane has always been a challenge for databases and MySQL is not exception. This talk will explore how geo-DR can be achieved with technologies in the MySQL ecosystems like: - MySQL replication - Galera Replication - NDB cluster - Tungsten - DRBD or SAN replication Each of these technologies have good sides and bad sides which must be considered in relation to the requirements. In order to help decide which solution better suits a given situation, topics like impact of wide area network latency, synchronicity of data, quorum and failover mechanism will be covered.
