Description

Jeremy and Charity have built monitoring systems for a positively stupid number of databases. We will give a ~20 minute overview of some common best practices over the lifecycle of a company, from the first day of your startup to a publicly traded company at scale, and then open it up for audience stories and Q&A for the rest of the slot time. (Come for the best practices, stay for the war stories, facepalmy tales of doom and sheepish mutterings about things we have yet to get right!)

Staff MySQL Operations Engineer, Etsy.com

Biography:

In 1999, I fell into this MySQL thing and been going strong ever since. I'm currently a Senior MySQL Operations Engineer at Etsy, Inc. Prior to Etsy, I was a MySQL wizard at GoDaddy working with 10k+ instances. I like sleeping without being paged, making databases run really fast and I occasionally get on a soapbox on monitoring.
