This is an introduction to Database-as-a-Service with OpenStack Trove. In this tutorial, attendees will learn about: • The architecture of OpenStack • The architecture of OpenStack Trove, the Database-as-a-Service project • Understand how to install and configure Trove • How to launch a MySQL database instance with Trove • How to launch a MongoDB instance with Trove • How to perform a backup of a MySQL database with Trove • How to setup replication with Trove • How to perform a replication-failover with Trove • Managing configuration of databases with Trove • Best practices for deploying Trove in your private cloud Pre-requisites: Please scroll down & download the slide deck with laptop requrements and more. Tutorial outline: Attendees will be provided with a USB drive that contains software for use in the tutorial. The software will be provided in the form of a set of VMWare machine images with the various OpenStack components that form part of the training. The course will consist of a series of lab sessions in which the attendee will be introduced to a concept, provided a demonstration of an activity, and finally the attendee will be able to perform the activity on his or her own machine. Attendees will be encouraged to work in pairs but it is highly advised that each attendee have their own computer and be able to work independently.

Earlier, he served as vice president of technology and product management at Dataupia, maker of the Satori Data Warehousing platform , and Sepaton’s director and general manager where he was responsible for the development of the core virtual tape library product. As a director of product development at Netezza, he managed end-to-end product delivery for all customers and prospects. Amrith studied mathematics at the University of Madras (India) and management at the Indian Institute of Management.
