Mark's focus is database and storage efficiency. He previously lead the MySQL development teams at Facebook and Google to make web scale MySQL better. He also worked at Oracle, Identity Engines and Informix on database internals. Mark has an MS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In late 2016 with MongoDB 3.2 there isn't an obvious winner between MongoRocks and WiredTiger when evaluating them for performance and efficiency on transaction processing workloads and in a few cases mmapv1 excels. MyRocks is the RocksDB storage engine for MySQL. We have continued to make it better in the last 6 months. I will explain the new features and improvements to performance and efficiency. I will also explain the workloads for which it might be a great fit. Finally I will describe the differences between InnoDB and MyRocks.
