Description

Today's datasets are growing at an exponential rate. Collection, storage, analysis, and reporting are becoming more challenging, and the results more valued. A decade ago, RRDTool's algorithms were well suited to our requirements, but they fall short of scaling to current demands. A new direction is needed, one that prioritizes write-optimized storage, and that scales beyond a single host. This presentation will provide an overview of Newts, a distributed time-series data store based on Apache Cassandra, show how it compares to other solutions, and take a look at how it is integrated in OpenNMS.
