Percona is glad to announce the second beta release towards Percona XtraBackup 2.0! We call this version 1.9.1 as we are using the 1.9.x version numbers for betas of 2.0 to clearly differentiate beta releases from the final 2.0 release. We do not recommend using Beta releases in production. Link to BETA version and Release notes.

Very shortly after the XtraBackup 1.6.4 binaries hit the downloads site and repositories, it was found to have a bug where the master information was not properly stored, thus breaking point in time recovery and the ability to start a slave from a backup. This was caught and fixed really quickly and we’ve re-spun the […]

So I’m back from the Percona dev team’s recent meeting. While there, we spent a fair bit of time discussing Xtrabackup development. One of our challenges is that as we add richer features to the tool, we need equivalent testing capabilities. However, it seems a constant in the MySQL world that available QA tools often […]

innobackupex --stream=tar | ssh remotebox "tar xfi -"
, read may be so intensive so […]
It is obvious thing for me, but I just figured out it may be not common understanding. Xtrabackup is also can be used (not only can, but we actually use it this way) to clone one slave to another, or just setup new slave from the master. And it is done in almost non-blocking way […]

I often talk with people who are very interested in the features of Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC) such as synchronous and parallel replication, multi-node writing and high availability. However some get confused when operating a real PXC cluster because they do not fully realize the implications of these features. So here is a fun way […]
