Lightning Talks are 5-minute presentations focusing on one key point in the MySQL world, technical or not. Lighthearted, fun or otherwise entertaining submissions are highly welcome. They might include a new idea, successful project, cautionary story, quick tip, or demonstration. This is an opportunity for MySQL ideas to get the attention they deserve. The rules are easy: five minutes and five minutes only. Use the time wisely to present your message and have fun! Lightning Talks will be presented on the main stage during the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo Wednesday Evening Networking Reception.

Birds of a Feather Sessions (BOFs) allow ad-hoc groups to meet and discuss MySQL issues that have a narrower interest then a regular conference session. Typically, a group will consist of like-minded individuals that want to meet and discuss in detail a common problem or idea. Sessions will be selected by the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo Conference Committee. BOFs will be held on Tuesday evening in the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo breakout rooms and other meeting areas, depending on demand.

The DotOrg Pavilion will feature a wide range of non-commercial open source products, services, and projects that are part of the MySQL ecosystem. Located in the Percona Live MySQL Conference Exhibitor Hall, the DotOrg pavilion will connect attendees with MySQL experts, writers, speakers, and advocates. Attendees that visit the DotOrg Pavilion will meet and greet key people from some of the world’s most recognized free software organizations while discovering up and coming projects.

Once again this year, we are pleased to support SkySQL’s 2nd Annual MySQL® & Cloud Database Solutions Day which is Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. To learn more about this free event, visit the SkySQL website now.

As a reminder, you can help our invited speaker Matt Aslett of 451 Research with his keynote presentation by completing 451 Research’s 2013 Database survey now. Matt will incorporate the survey findings into his presentation on the state of the MySQL ecosystem.

Be sure to visit the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo 2013 website regularly as we continue to announce exciting new keynote speakers and conference sponsors. We will also announce the Birds of a Feather Sessions, the Lightning Talks, and the DotOrg Pavilion members soon.
