PLEASANTON, Calif., Feb 11, 2009 – Percona, a leading provider of consulting and support for large, high-performance Internet applications built from open-source software, has announced their Percona Performance Conference 2009. The conference theme is “Performance is Everything.” This free event presents experts on all aspects of the full software stack, including open-source databases (especially MySQL and InnoDB), full-text search, web and content serving, client-side performance, and caching. Coverage of programming languages, frameworks, operating systems, and hardware topics is also planned. Percona announced on February 5 the creation of Percona Performance Conference, a new conference dedicated to full-stack performance topics. It will be held concurrently with the MySQL Conference and Expo 2009 on April 22 and 23, 2009 in the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, California. Topics include cloud computing, map-reduce, non-relational data stores, client-side performance, and of course MySQL, InnoDB and XtraDB. Confirmed speakers include the creators of MySQL, Drizzle, Sphinx, and more.
Percona has officially
announced the
Percona XtraDB transactional storage engine, which is based on InnoDB, the leading transactional storage engine for MySQL. It includes extra features and higher performance on modern hardware.
Percona announced on December 9 the appointment of Tom Basil as Chief Operating Officer of the company. Previously, Basil was Director of Support for MySQL AB for nearly eight years, serving from the inception of MySQL AB's support team until after its $1 billion acquisition by Sun Microsystems. Basil's team became home for many senior MySQL technologists, growing to 60 persons in 15 nations, all working over the Internet from their homes. Percona Goes to the MySQL Conference

Our consultants will be at the 2008 MySQL Conference next week. We'll be presenting on Investigating Innodb Scalability Limits (Vadim Tkachenko, Peter Zaitsev), Sphinx: High Performance Full Text Search for MySQL (Andrew Aksyonoff, Peter Zaitsev), EXPLAIN Demystified (Baron Schwartz) and The MySQL Query Cache (Baron Schwartz).
