    Robert has over 30 years of experience in database and application engineering. Prior to Continuent, he worked on object-relational databases and transaction processing at Sybase. He also held senior engineering positions at Portera and Exigen Group, where he designed and operated software-as-a-service applications. Robert is the original designer of Continuent's Tungsten solution.

    Ryan has been working with MySQL extensively since 2001. He was previously a member of the MySQL customer advisory board for from 2003-2008. His specialties include MySQL backups, replication and optimizer as well as query tuning. One focus has been on adding enterprise reliability and features to MySQL, which includes helping design and sponsoring dozens of MySQL features throughout the years. Ryan's prior work included database and systems architecture as well as systems automation. He created a reliable and scalable database architecture that served billions of page turns each month with 99.998% reliability. In his current role as Director of Percona Remote DBA he is focused on creating a platform that brings customers that same level of service.

He authors the common_schema, openark-kit & mycheckpoint open source tools, and blogs at http://openark.org. Shlomi is an Oracle ACE, Oracle Technologist of the Year: 2011, and the 2009 MySQL Community Member of the Year.

    Tim Callaghan is the Vice President of Engineering at Tokutek, creators of TokuDB. A long time database fanatic, Tim has 20 years experience building and administering database applications for commercial and internal usage. Tim spent two years at VoltDB, where he led the field engineering efforts, was the point contact for all commercial and community customers, and served as Product Manager. Before that, he was the Chief System Architect at CrunchTime Information Systems, building their SaaS restaurant solutions and distributed database offerings for the cruise industry.

    Mr. Tomas Ulin has been working with the MySQL Database team since 2003, and is currently employed by Oracle, based in Sweden. He is Vice President for the MySQL Engineering team, responsible for the development and maintenance of the MySQL related software products within Oracle, such as the MySQL Server, MySQL Cluster, MySQL Connectors, MySQL Workbench, MySQL Enterprise Backup, and MySQL Enterprise Monitor. Prior to working with MySQL he has a background in the telecom industry, working for the Swedish telecom operator Telia and Telecom vendor Ericsson. He has a Masters degree in Computer Science and Applied Physics from Case Western Reserve University and a PhD in Computer Science from the Royal Institute of Technology.

    Torben Mathiasen is an application architect at Fusion-io, where he spends his time tuning and evaluating software stacks for optimal performance and reliability. Prior to joining Fusion-io, he spent 11 years at Hewlett-Packard, architecting firmware for the ProLiant BladeServer portfolio. He also held a senior system architect position at Prevas, designing the next generation embedded systems for use by customers around the globe. He has made contributions to the Linux kernel in areas like ethernet, PCI-X and storage controller drivers.
  • Principal Support Engineer , Percona
    Valerii joined Percona in September 2012 as a Principal Support Engineer. Before that Valerii worked in the Bugs Verification group of MySQL Support team at MySQL AB/Sun/Oracle for more than seven years. During all this time he processed bugs at http://bugs.mysql.com. He had also worked on complex support issues, coordinated cooperation of MySQL Support with optimizer, GUI tools and some other development teams. Later he was also responsible for decision making from Support side on bug fixing in all MySQL GA versions. Before joining MySQL AB Valerii worked as software developer, trainer, system administrator and DBA for Oracle and Informix databases. Valerii got a degree in Mathematics from the Moscow State University back in 1992. He currently lives with his family in the small town of Vyshgorod near Kyiv, Ukraine.
