Replication features, technologies and 3rd party Extinction.

By now anyone running a MySQL server for something bigger then a brochure website will know that replication can afford them the ability to do some wonderful things. It's no silver bullet on it's own though. There's much to know about stock MySQL replication, from installation to security to troubleshooting it when it's not behaving itself.

Continuent have written Tungsten Replicator to provide much awaited features such as parallel replication and global transaction IDs. Some call it the Golden Gate of the mysql world but has Oracle put it on the endangered list with the feature set of MySQL 5.6? Percona have a raft of tools to ensure that your replication is bomb proof, but are they going to be necessary after reading the list of 5.6 additions?

Codership's Galera was born out of the desire for syncronous replication. This allows for more fault tolerant replication topolgies such as active-active:master-master and true parallel replication at row level, but at what cost?

In this talk you will hear about some replication features that are already solid implementations in 5.1.x, 5.5.x and some of the new features headed for 5.6.x.
