Abstract
The much-anticipated ability to access MySQL data via a NoSQL solution has been realized. Using HandlerSocket, significant performance gains can be realized for certain workloads. In this session, I'll answer the following questions:
- What is HandlerSocket?
- Where does HandlerSocket fit in my application stack?
- Why would I want to use HandlerSocket?
- How do I use Handlersocket?
I'll walk through relevant configuration & tuning options, and at the end of the presentation attendees will be able to identify candidate use cases within their application to use HandlerSocket.

Ryan Lowe
Dir. Americas Consulting, Percona
Ryan is a Principal Consultant and Director of Percona's Americas Consulting practice. Prior to joining Percona in 2008, Ryan worked for a variety of companies, including several startups, and he has a background in many different database technologies. He has extensive experience as a developer, DBA, manager, and consultant. In addition, he has worked in a broad range of industries across the globe, including health care, telecommunications, social networking, and defense. His specialties include full-stack performance optimization, scaling, and high availability. When not working, he enjoys traveling, skydiving, and experimenting with new technologies.
