Galera Replication 1.0: Getting There
October 25th, 2:00 PM
Fleet Suite
Abstract
Galera Replication is synchronous multi-master replication solution for MySQL/InnoDB, providing nice features like:
- Multi-master operation with automatic resolving of write conflicts
- Synchronous replication => no lost transactions
- Parallel slave applying => write scalability
- Client transparency => looks and feels like native InnoDB
In this presentation we will show the state of Galera Replication project focusing in the very new features brought in with the latest 0.8 and 1.0 releases, .e.g.:
- Supporting MySQL 5.5
- TLS (SSL v3) communication
- Light weight arbitrator component (garb) for WAN use cases
We will also outline the common Galera use cases, like master-slave, multi-master and WAN replication topologies, and discuss the potential performance gain with multi-master operation.

Seppo Jaakola
CEO, Codership
Seppo, CEO of Codership, has 10 year experience in database replication/clustering environmrnt, and has participated in the development of four different replication systems during his career. In his current position, in Codership, Seppo works with the ultimate replication solution: Galera Replication. Prior to DBMS clustering career, Seppo has worked several years with the R&D of information security and FIrewall clustering solutions.

Alexey Yurchenko
Senior Software Engineer, Codership
Alex started his career in DBMS clustering development in 2003 at Continuent, where he was hooked up on synchronous replication. After that he joined R&D team at Meshcom Inc, learning the ways of mesh networking, embedded SW development and Scrum process management. There he got this crazy idea that running a software company can be fun and joined as a partner in Codership, specializing in group communication system development. In his former life he held a Masters Degree in Astronomy from SUNY at Stony Brook and worked as a software engineer at Budker Institute for Nuclear Physics
