Baron is the lead author of High Performance MySQL, and creator of Maatkit. He consults with Percona's customers, and develops tools and practices for Percona's team.

Mark Uhrmacher
CTO & Co-Founder, ideeli
Mark Uhrmacher launched members-only retail site ideeli with co-founder Paul Hurley in 2007. Mark has been involved in start-ups since 2002, first developing the technical infrastructure and sales and marketing strategy for food manufacturer Expert Foods, then serving as chief technology officer for Attune.com, an online advertising startup. Mark began his career with the technical staff at Oracle, where he focused on developing video on demand and interactive television, and was a member of the committee that created MPEG compression technology. He’s also been with NetGravity and DoubleClick.

Theo Schlossnagle
Principal/CEO, OmniTI
Theo Schlossnagle is a Founder and Principal at OmniTI where he designs and implements scalable solutions for highly trafficked sites and other clients in need of sound, scalable architectural engineering. He is the architect of the highly scalable Ecelerity mail transport agent. Theo is a participant in various open source communities including OpenSolaris, Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, perl, and many others. He is a published author in the area of scalability and distributed systems as well as a veteran speaker in the open source conference circuit.

Michael West
Global Field Specialist, VMware
Michael was VMware's initial Tier1 apps specialist in the US, helping customers understand the ramifications of virtualizing their databases, especially Oracle and SQL Server. He has a deep background in databases, with over a decade of experience at Oracle and Microsoft. He works with VMware's vFabric Data Director product, which is a platform for delivering DBaaS (database as a service) in enterprise cloud infrastructures.

Peter Zaitsev
Founder and CEO, Percona
Peter managed the High Performance Group within MySQL until 2006, when he founded Percona. Peter has a Master's Degree in Computer Science and is an expert in database kernels, computer hardware, and application scaling.
