  • Installation and my.conf location

    Hello,

    I am trying to install xtradb cluster for the first time, in Ubuntu. I have ran the folloiwng commands:
    sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y && apt-get dist-upgrade -y
    echo "deb http://repo.percona.com/apt precise main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/percona.list
    echo "deb-src http://repo.percona.com/apt precise main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/percona.list
    apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 1C4CBDCDCD2EFD2A
    apt-get update
    apt-get install -y percona-xtradb-cluster-56 qpress xtrabackup
    apt-get install -y python-software-properties vim wget curl netcat
    echo "Installation of Percona xtradb completed"

    I need to create a my.conf file, but I'm not sure where to find the mysql directory.

    I have not installed MySQL but according to one of the following links,
    we need to create it in /etc/mysql/my.cnf

    Do I need to install MySQL first so that this directory exists already, or should I just create
    the missing /etc/mysql/ directory and then create the my.conf file in there?

    Thank you

    Herbey,

    You don't have to install Oracle's MySQL to have this directory or the configuration file, if for some reason /etc/mysql directory or /etc/mysql/my.cnf is not found you may be able to create it without any problems.

    You may use the sample my.cnf here - http://www.percona.com/doc/percona-x...ring-the-nodes, or here http://www.percona.com/doc/percona-x...-configuration. Just make sure to change the parameters that would fit your test cluster.
