I have started getting this awesome software to work, however i want to do stream backups to tar/gzip. But its asking for a tar4ibd.. i dont have that and it wasn't in the Linux binary i downloaded? i cant seem to locate a download for it. Is there a binary of it somewhere?

It should be included on the binary package you downloaded although I can't find it on the 1.6.2 package, try 1.5 http://www.percona.com/downloads/XtraBackup/XtraBackup-1.5/L inux/binary/
