I continue my benchmarks of Intel SSD 910, previous time I compared it with Fusion-io ioDrive http://www.percona.com/blog/2012/09/07/intel-ssd-910-in-tpcc-mysql-benchmark/. Now I want to test this card against RAID over spinning disks.
I continue my benchmarks of Intel SSD 910, the raw IO results are available in my previous experiment. Now I want to test this card under MySQL workload to see if the card is suitable to use with MySQL. Benchmark date: Sep-2012 Benchmark goal: Test Intel SSD 910 under tpcc-mysql workload and compare with baseline […]
I have a chance to test a system with Intel 320 SSD drives (NewRelic provided me with an access to the server), and compare performance with SAS hard drives.
In our recent release of Percona Server 5.5.19 we introduced new value for innodb_flush_neighbor_pages=cont. This way we are trying to deal with the problem of InnoDB flushing.
In the first part of this article I have showed how I align IO, now I want to share results of the benchmark that I have been running to see how much benefit can we get from a proper IO alignment on a 4-disk RAID1+0 with 64k stripe element. I haven’t been running any benchmarks […]
Finally I was able to run PBXT 1.0.11 pre-GA in tpcc-like workload, apparently there was bug with did not allow me to get the result earlier, and I am happy to see that PBXT team managed it. For initial runs I took tpcc 100 warehouses ( about 10GB of data) which fully fits into memory […]
With a lot of talks around 5.4 I decided to check how it works in our benchmarks. For first shoot I took tpcc-like IO-bound benchmark (100W, ~10GB of data, 3GB buffer_pool) and tested it on our Dell PowerEdge R900 box (16 cores, 32GB of RAM, RAID 10 on 8 SAS 2.5″ 15K RPM disks). For […]
One of our customers gave me a chance to run some benchmarks on 24-core (intel cpu based) server, and I could not miss it and ran few CPU-bound tasks there. The goal of benchmarks was investigation of InnoDB-plugin and XtraDB scalability in CPU-bound load.
Peter said me that previous results http://www.percona.com/blog/2008/12/18/xtradb-benchmarks-15x-gain/ are too marketing, and we should show other results also. Here is the run for CPU Bound,or it would be more correctly to say in-cache benchmark, because there is a lot of CPU remains idle. This run is exactly the same as Disk Bound but with innodb_buffer_pool_size=8G which […]
I guess it is first reaction on new storage engine – show me benefits. So there is benchmark I made on one our servers. It is Dell 2950 with 8CPU cores and RAID10 on 6 disks with BBU, and 32GB RAM on board with CentOS 5.2 as OS. This is quite typical server we recommend […]
