Piotr joined Percona very early in the company's history, as the fourth member of the consulting team. Prior to that, he had gained extensive experience as a system architect, systems administrator, and DBA. In those roles, he helped to build two of Poland's largest Internet portals, both of which served billions of page views per month.

In addition to a strong database background, Piotr has extensive knowledge in a broad range of other technologies, including programming and scripting languages (bash, awk, Perl, PHP, SQL, HTML, C/C++), operating systems (Linux/Unix, Sun Solaris, BSD, Windows), networking (protocols, load balancing, firewalls, high availability), and advanced virtualization techniques (DLPAR/LPAR). He has worked with numerous Percona customers on projects both large and small, in areas including building architectures, eliminating performance and security problems, data migration, and many others.

Piotr splits his time between his home in Poland and traveling around the world. He is an enthusiast of the underwater world and holds advanced certifications in diving. He loves to dive in quarries, lakes, caves, the ocean, and pretty much anywhere else that he can.
